Landfall SSEs | Summary
Posting Date: October 10, 2026, 10:00:00 AM
Hurricane Isaias made landfall at 9:30 pm EDT last night near Destin, FL, with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph and a minimum central pressure of 971 mb.
ALERT™ subscribers can download similar stochastic event (SSE) IDs for Hurricane Isaias’ impacts from the Downloads tab of this posting on the ALERT website. Compatible with Verisk Synergy Studio, Touchstone® and Touchstone Re™, the SSEs were selected based on the event’s track, minimum central pressure, estimated winds, forward speed, and approach angle. The SSEs were selected to best match expected impacts in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
Tree-related damage near Lake Francis in northwest Pensacola, FL (Lisa Bailey/WEAR)
The shear acting on Isaias as it approached the coastline led to its rapid dissipation as it moved inland. The storm became highly asymmetric, with the highest winds on the northern edge. Additionally, the influences of the dry air and mid-latitude shear manifested into a strong wind draft on the western edge through Baldwin County, AL and Pensacola, FL during landfall. More typically associated with extra-tropical cyclones, this phenomenon brought gusts of 116 mph in Santa Rosa Sound, FL, 102 mph to Pensacola, FL, and 97 mph to Gulf Breeze, FL. 915,000 households were without power as of Saturday morning across the storm’s path. Images that have emerged of the damage so far include tree fall, damage to gas stations and building facades, and flooded roads. A video on social media showed the roof being ripped off of the Rest and Relax Inn on Plantation Road in Pensacola from high wind gusts.
Additional Verisk solutions are available to support your response to this storm. Through our GEO event intelligence solution, we have been providing pre-event information, including the predicted path, predicted arrival times, cone of uncertainty, and later, confirmed track and confirmed arrival times, updated daily. We have also released Wind Speed Probability layers as well as a Potential Storm Surge layer. One day post-landfall, GEO will provide an Exposure Layer providing a quick snapshot of the impacted area, followed by a Claims Layer - starting three days post-landfall with updates following - which will provide building level assessments of damage based on aerial imagery and the expertise of our intelligence team. GEO licensees are also invited to a webinar discussion about the storm’s impacts on Monday.
Likewise, our Weather Solutions team has been providing a forecast wind footprint of Isaias since it strengthened to a tropical storm, refreshed every six hours. Later this weekend, a final view of the wind footprint, with assimilated wind observations, will be available. Together with ALERT, this suite of Verisk event response solutions can be used together to provide a holistic view of the event across insurance functions, including claims, underwriting, catastrophe and exposure management. They can facilitate claims resource management, notify policyholders, implement underwriting moratoriums, understand total exposure at risk, estimate insured losses, and support communication with stakeholders.
We will produce custom event sets, an industry loss estimate, and other associated deliverables early next week for Isaias, to be released no later than Wednesday morning.
Please contact your Verisk representative with any questions in this ALERT or any of our additional event response and intelligence offerings.
