Hurricane Isaias 2026
Status: Active
Pre-Landfall SSEs #1 | Summary
Posting Date: October 8, 2026, 12:00:00 AM
As of the 7:00 am CDT advisory, Hurricane Isaias was located 385 miles south-southwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River, with maximum sustained winds of 80 mph and a minimum central pressure of 975 mb.
ALERT™ subscribers can download similar stochastic event (SSE) IDs for Hurricane Isaias’ forecast impacts from the Downloads tab of this posting on the ALERT website. Compatible with Verisk Synergy Studio, Touchstone® and Touchstone Re™, the SSEs were selected based on the event’s track, minimum central pressure, estimated winds, forward speed, and approach angle. The SSEs were selected to best match impacts in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi.

Isaias is expected to continue to strengthen over the next day or so in an environment of favorable sea surface temperatures. As with yesterday’s forecast, the current NHC forecast peak intensity brings Isaias to a high-end category 2 storm. Key factors in Isaias’ eventual landfall intensity continue to be the expected significant increase in vertical wind shear and potential for dry air associated with a short wave impacting and forcing the storm as it approaches the Gulf coast, and how much those factors end up weakening Isaias in the final hours prior to landfall. Current model projections place landfall somewhere between Biloxi, MS and Destin, FL.
Assuming no significant changes in the forecast, we plan to issue an updated set of similar stochastic events for Isaias on Friday morning, EDT. A posting is possible for Saturday, depending on the eventual track, speed, and intensity of Isaias as it reaches the coast. An update on any weekend plans in general for Isaias will be provided by Friday.
